At Peshawar, November 12. Pakistan won by 46 runs. After winning the toss New Zealand put Pakistan in and claimed their first three wickets for only 38 runs. But Miandad, along with the newcomer, Naved Anjum, and Mudassar took Pakistan to a respectable 191 for five. New Zealand in turn lost half their side for 44 to the medium pace of Zakir Khan.
