AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES 1979-80

At Sydney, January 18. Australia won by 9 runs. With the finalists already decided, this last match in the preliminary round, played under floodlights, was of merely academic interest and both teams introduced several new players. McCosker and Wiener gave Australia their only century opening stand of the competition, but Yallop"s 11 was the highest of the remaining nine batsmen. Murray, Kallicharran and Lloyd all batted well for West Indies, but their last seven wickets fell for 47 to give Australia their third victory in four matches against West Indies in the tournament.
