Wisden
3rd ODI, Belfast

Ireland v Afghanistan, 2016

At Belfast, July 14. Ireland won by six wickets. ‡Afghanistan 236 (49.1 overs) (Mohammad Shahzad 81, Asghar Stanikzai 33, Mohammad Nabi 40; B. J. McCarthy 3- 57, K. J. O'Brien 3-28); Ireland 237-4 (47.3 overs) (E. C. Joyce 105*, K. J. O'Brien 75, P. R. Stirling 39*). ODI debut: S. P. Terry (Ireland).
Joyce's fourth ODI century - his third for Ireland, to go with 107 for England v Australia at Sydney in 2006-07 - anchored a series-squaring victory. He put on 144 for the fourth wicket with Kevin O'Brien, whose fifty was only the second in his last 22 white-ball innings. They might have been chasing a lower target: Asghar Stanikzai and Nabi were both dropped early on. Mohammad Shahzad had biffed his third successive half-century in ODIs but Afghanistan made only 66 from their last 13 overs. Sean Terry, the son of the former Hampshire and England batsman Paul, made his international debut, courtesy of his Dublin-born mother.
