Sussex v Pakistanis

At Hove, July 8-10. Drawn. Toss: Sussex. First-class debuts: J. C. Archer, P. D. Salt. County debut: A. Sakande.
The loss of the last day to persistent drizzle prevented a result, although a good batting pitch might have precluded one anyway. Azhar Ali batted carefully for a second successive century, and his stands of 125 and 146 with Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq propelled the Pakistanis to 363 on the first day. Fast bowler Jofra Archer - born in Barbados and a former West Indies Under-19 representative - took four of the five wickets to fall (the other first-class debutant, 19-year-old Welshman Philip Salt, later made a tidy unbeaten 37). Sussex replied in kind, the openers putting on 212: Wells fell just short of a century, but Finch completed his second in first-class cricket. Brown declared 72 behind, then Pakistan's top three all but doubled that by the end of the second day
