5th ODI, Mount Maunganui

New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 2015-16

At Mount Maunganui, January 5, 2016. New Zealand won by 36 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka still had a chance to level the series, but were thwarted again by Henry. Restored after missing the first Nelson match, he sliced through the order to finish with five for 40, and 13 wickets in the series at nine apiece. After Dilshan sent a trademark scoop straight to the keeper, Henry got going with the scalps of Thirimanne and Gunathilleke. A stand of 93 between Chandimal and Mathews was broken by the rusty Boult, back after a break, then Henry returned at the death to claim three more wickets, the key one being Mathews, who hooked to deep square, where Nicholls took a good high catch which would have carried for six. Mathews's 95 was Sri Lanka's highest individual score of the tour. Earlier, after Latham fell in the first over, Guptill's tenth one-day international century was the backbone of New Zealand's substantial innings, helped by 61s from Williamson and Taylor. Guptill finished the series with 331 runs, a strike-rate of 139, and 19 sixes.
Man of the Match: M. J. Henry.
