Batting first again, Afghanistan sailed to 124-1 in the 31st over before losing three wickets in six balls without addition. Nabi, trying a single after a misfield, was run out soon afterwards, before Shafiqullah Shinwari organised a recovery to 223. But it wasn't enough on another surface which encouraged the spinners. Left-arm spinner Hamza Hotak opened the attack for Afghanistan, and took the only three wickets that fell to bowlers. The one that didn't was an oddity: Chamu Chibhabha inside-edged towards his stumps, but swatted the ball away with his glove, and was given out handled the ball. He was the third player to suffer the fate in one-day internationals, after India's Mohinder Amarnath at Melbourne in 1985-86, and South Africa's Daryll Cullinan against West Indies at Durban in 1998-99. Mutumbami anchored the first half of the chase with a career-best 74, before Elton Chigumbura and Sikandar Raza (29*)
finished the job in the final over.
