Victoria XI v West Indians

At Geelong, December 19-20, 2015 (not first-class). Drawn. West Indians 303-8 dec (90 overs) (K. C. Brathwaite 78, J. Blackwood 69; J. W. Hart 4-93); ‡Victoria XI 169-3 (58 overs) (J. C. Hancock 80*). Both sides chose from 12 players. In stifling heat, against a Victoria attack with no first-class experience, the West Indies top order fired for the first time on the tour. Kraigg Brathwaite retired to allow others some batting time, but his departure induced a slide of six for 43, with four wickets for leg-spinner Jeremy Hart. The tourists struggled to make inroads next day, not helped by Taylor, who had his back turned and was leaning on the fence beyond the fine-leg boundary when a mis-hook came his way. "It can't be a good look," said West Indies coach Phil Simmons. "It's a team trying to gain respect, so we have to make sure we cut out things like that." The beneficiary was opener Jake Hancock, on 22, who reached 80 before rain washed out the final session.
