England improves official Test rating

England's victory in the final npower Test against South Africa today improved its rating in the ICC Test Championship table from 101 to 104

England's victory in the final npower Test against South Africa today improved its rating in the ICC Test Championship table from 101 to 104.
The improvement is not enough to lift England from fourth place in the official table but it does put them only 2 points behind New Zealand in third.
Third place will therefore be at stake in October as New Zealand faces a tough away series in India while England travels to Bangladesh.
The 2-2 series draw is enough to guarantee second place in the official table for South Africa for the immediate future, though their rating has fallen from 119 to 116.
South Africa's next Test series is in Pakistan.
Also in October, Australia will host Zimbabwe.
The potential impact that each of these series can have on the official ratings will be available on the official ICC website shortly before they commence. The ICC Test Championship table is updated at the end of each Test series.
