India v Australia, 2nd ODI, Jaipur
India's top-three humble Australia
Australia began the second ODI in the same manner as the first game, with Aaron Finch and Philip Hughes preparing a solid foundation. The duo added 74 runs in 15.2 overs•BCCI
Hughes played steadily early on, but accelerated in the company of Shane Watson, as the pair attacked India's spinners•BCCI
Maxwell's fifty, which came off 30 balls, created a new record - the only instance of the top five batsmen of a team scoring fifties in an ODI•BCCI
Australia did have their moments, but Brad Haddin, having run all the way to midwicket, fluffed a catch off Shikhar Dhawan when he was on 18 •BCCI
And when Dhawan fell, five runs short of his century, in walked Virat Kohli, who decimated the Australian attack. India cruised past 300 in the 39th over and Kohli picked up the record for the fastest century for India in ODIs•BCCI
Finch was run out by Raina for a brisk 53-ball 50 - his third successive fifty on this tour - that included seven fours and a six•BCCI
They added 108 off 16.4 overs and by the time Watson was out for 59, Australia were at a commanding 182 for 2 off 32 overs•BCCI
Bailey took charge of the last five overs, hitting 40 runs to take his score from 52 to an unbeaten 92. The innings propelled Australia to 359 for 5•BCCI
With his fifty looming, Dhawan faced another heart-in-the-mouth moment when Xavier Doherty seemed to have had him stumped, but the third umpire gave the benefit of the doubt to the batsman•BCCI
Rohit held the innings together as Dhawan and Kohli exploded around him, but after reaching his third ODI century, he cut loose as well, ending up unbeaten on 141 off 123 balls, with 17 fours and four sixes•BCCI
George Bailey and Glenn Maxwell punished the Indian bowlers after Hughes was out. The pair added 96 off 51 balls, taking Australia past 300•BCCI
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan laid the perfect platform for the chase as the opening partnership contributed 176 runs•BCCI
Dhawan made the most of his chances, striking 14 fours as the chase gained momentum•BCCI
The winning boundary was flicked away and the two batsmen celebrated in style, as was befitting with India having completed the second highest run-chase in ODI history for the loss of only one wicket•BCCI
