Pandey, the protégé, outshone the veteran and Player of the Match, Jhulan Goswami, in an exemplary display of swing-and-seam-bowling partnership between the two India quicks. Relentless with her inswingers early on, Pandey struck in her opening over when Amy Jones miscued a flick. She finished her seven-over opening spell with 2 for 12. England scored only six off Pandey's remaining 18 balls, her persistence on the line outside off reaping rewards. She claimed two lbws in three balls in the 29th over to help set up India's second win of the three-match series.

England captain Heather Knight chose to bowl fast bowler Cross, who was playing her first T20I series in four years and had figures of 0 for 17 from her previous three overs. Cross proceeded to bowl three dot balls and then removed Bharti Fulmali and Anuja Patil before conceding a single off the final ball. Mithali Raj, unbeaten on 30, watched it all from the non-striker's end.

Sharing new-ball duties, Mir removed four of South Africa's top five inside eight overs, sending them hurtling to their second-lowest total in ODI cricket. She bowled Laura Wolvaardt and had stand-in captain Sune Luus pinged in front off successive deliveries in her opening over, and although she missed getting a hat-trick, her four-for contributed to the three points Pakistan gained from the series, the same as South Africa since the final match was tied.

Her second spell began in the 19th over, and by the 23rd, she had figures of 10-4-22-7, to help dismiss England for 75 - their third lowest total overall.

The in-form Deepti Sharma became her third wicket, and the clinching blows came in the final over, when Mohammed successfully defended eight runs and dismissed the last two batters, including one off the final ball of the match.
