At Wankhede Stadium, Bombay, November 9. West Indies won by 46 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka.

With West Indies' captain, Richardson, and leading bowler Ambrose resting, Winston Benjamin made the most of his chance, taking five wickets. His first spell - three for four in six overs - reduced Sri Lanka to 21 for three. Though Tillekeratne scored 104, which was to be the only century of the tournament, no one could help him chase a target of 269.
