India definitely had their moments in the series, but would think twice before associating a "remarkable " tag. Virat, Rahane, Pujara and Jaddu were all spectacular in their own ways. However our bowling let us down in both tests. We couldn't get that elusive Faf/ABD wkts in the first test and let Steyn score those runs that took the game away, in the second. We need to rethink our strategy around Zak - seemed to lose steam after the first test. Experience cannot be a substitute for performance or lack of it. As Sanjay M aptly puts it's - 140kmph is a norm, u then need to think if swing and seam.
India's refusal to use the Decision Review System (DRS) will cost them dearly all the time....I'm a purist, but can see the sense in using the DRS to overturn some of the very badly judged on-field decisions in the second test.
I am a PROUD INDIAN, yes we did not win any match on this tour, but the fight we shown i think it was remarkable in the positive vein. I think we are the only side in the recent time who did not get bowled for under 50 touring SA. Well done India. I was not expecting this. Then it is something like VVS Laxman's 167 in Sydney, i being not so knowledgeable at that time, i thought "What is the use? Too little too late, we were thoroughly trashed" , but what i did not know is that it was a building block for an Aussie "Tormentor" who made India proud on many a occasion. I think this series will show some impact n the future. I am inspired a good New Year Gift from the Indian Cricket Team. Thanks Team India!!!!
How can you call india remarkable. They almost lost the first test I think SA should have gone for the win in the first test match and second test was won by SA almost by an innings. Ind lost both one dayers. The results don't show that India was remarkable.
I believe SA beat India 4-0 because they forfeited 3 tests. It was almost 5-0. In any league, the team that doesn't pitch up is penalised points and the other team gets all the points. That should apply in tests too. It would make the high and mighty Indian cricket board (whatever they're called) think twice about cancelling matches whenever it suits them, because I'm sure they want to regain their number 1 status. However it is worked, they should be punished. Good on SA for being number 1 and for doing it with a lot less matches than any of the other teams. .
