He. Was a special! A rare talent,! Unique,
Chandra brought life and sparkle to Indian Test Cricket, that was otherwise missing. Losing was the certainty, but with Chandra's fast spin, India always had a chance. Too bad, India does not have fast spinners, who are generally more effective on non-spin-responsive, but bouncy, wickets. Indian batsmen, the so called masters of spin, would have found Chandra unplayable; even to this day, Indian batsmen are not good against fast spinners.
