I remember watching both WI vs India and Pak vs Ind both games the pace bowlers really let rip at India. Our batsman used skill and won us matches. Those games were not won on luck.In this last match the weather played its part and hence the low score - lots of sure boundary shots were saved due to slow outfield.

Dummy4 on June 25, 2013, 16:42 GMT

@mark2011 I call it is inability of England team to score a very small total. Cricket is not just about batting and bowling. It also needs ability to handle pressure and make right decisions at right times which team England didn't possess. You cannot say that because of Dhoni luck India have won the trophy

Vijay on June 25, 2013, 15:42 GMT

@mark2011 If you look at it objectively, India lost the toss, and the Indian innings was stopped on multiple occassions by rain. England had all the cloud cover for their bowling attack and had minimal impact except for Bopara who bowled intelligently. India won all their matches including the warm up games. How did England fare? oh wait, they got their pants pulled down by Sri lanka...

And regarding Bell - the way he was batting, i wish he had not been given out by the umpires. He probably would have wasted another couple of overs before self destructing, and that would have increased the margin of victory for India.

It's time to stop making excuses and move on. The better team won, period.

Dummy4 on June 25, 2013, 14:56 GMT

Luck is on the side of the biggest army said Nepoeiean. In cricket parlance, luck is on the side of the team determined to win. That is what India did. That determination is nurtured by captain Dhoni. Mark hope you got the answer.

omkar on June 25, 2013, 14:16 GMT

India simply won as result of the following:

Cook - beaten for pace by Yadav and brilliantly caught. Bell - outwitted by Jadeja. Trott - bamboozled by Ashwin. Root - fooled by Ashwin. Morgan - outfoxed by Ishant's slower ball. Bopara - bounced out by Ishant. Butler - clueless, out of his depth and cleaned up by Jadeja. Bresnan - novice cricketer and superbly ran out. Broad, Tredwell & Anderson - inconsequential.

Dummy4 on June 25, 2013, 12:37 GMT

@Mark2011: Even if we take that Indians won CT only because of sheer luck. I don't understand how can u argue or expect a team whose is dropping a catch of an important set batsman, panicking of opposition's key bowlers pending overs to win the match. More importantly a opposition who cannot chase 20 off 16 balls with 6 wickets in hand.

Its a trap which turned in favour of India which could be turned other way also. Morgan and Bopara tried what Dhoni expected out of them from Ishant. Trying to finish off things or atleast make things easier in final 2 overs of Ashwin and Jadeja which paid off.

I dont know will you accept if Indian told like this (if) after losing Also England had its part of luck. Broad was not ran out by Jadeje when he had the opportunity. England was lucky enough to come from 46/4 to 110/4. England was lucky enough When their best bowler anderson didn't come up great where as their 5th bowler who should have been the bait of all bowlers came up with 20/3 in 4 over

One of the biggest positive difference to India has been Kohli replacing Dravid at #3, since 2007 when Dravid retired from ODIs, india won the tri-series in australia, world cup 2011 and now CT 2013. Kohli has won more Man of the Match awards already than Dravid did in his whole career.

What surprises me is that Misbah got a lot of criticism that he bats slowly, that is exactly what dravid did in his whole career, batted like misbah minus the ability to hit sixes that misbah has.

sandip on June 25, 2013, 10:16 GMT

IND won this CT....NO...ENG lost this CT. Perhaps ENG can't digest this fact but its true. Never seen COOK with a such stressed face in the FINAL & that too since long time. How amazing that LUCK travels with DHONI & not with ENG. IND lost 7 wkts by slogging for a run rate on juicy live pitch for setting a target that nobody knew what would be sufficient enough. ENG had not taken wkts but IND earned wkts with COOK in slip, forced to dance Trott, Bell, Butler, Root & Bresnan with spin.

Chasing 130 in 20 with 3 most reliable batsman at the top, 1 fine middle order young most talented batsman in the universe & Morgan-Butler-Bopara who can make 100 runs 10 overs in the end. Why ENG didn't make it? Why poor body lang from ENG? Why so hype on LUCK & Bell wkt only by ENG when he was actually out? Who said Bell was not out?

Cricket is getting died these days in ENG. Instead of addressing these issues, ALL ENG are on the run for EXCUSES more than SL.

@mark2011 Please explain.

Dummy4 on June 25, 2013, 10:14 GMT

@Mark2011 the word is CHOKED ..if you cant get 20 run out of 16 balls . luck is when england won the world cup t20 in 2010

Karun on June 25, 2013, 10:11 GMT

@mark2011If India winning this trophy was sheer luck, then by logic England getting to the final was also sheer luck. SA choked badly similar to England. Its not sheer luck, its some luck and a lot of pressure. MS Dhoni showed why he is the only player who has got all 3 trophys, he used his bowlers well and created the right pressure. Furthermore, the best team won- few people disagree. Everything went against India- losing the toss on a seaming pitch, turning into a t20 where its more a lottery (India would have won comfortably if it was 50 overs- especially on this pitch) - India having breaks in their batting- no momentum- Middle order not having much of a bat all tournament and expecting to deliver in a t20. England failure to handle pressure is not luck its been there the whole tournament- against Sri Lanka& losing only by 10 runs to NZ (narrow margin). They haven't comprehensively beaten a good side- India however have beaten SA & Sri Lanka (Eng win SA not count as they choke).
