To suggest Ponting's time is over is plain foolishness. Yes, he is struggling now, but to write him off, is a risk, only a stupid captain would think of. Without comparing him to Sachin, Ponting definitely has the potential to make a strong comeback like Sachin did post 2006.
If two Ashes defeats having strong teams has not had an impact on Ponting's future, I wonder what another Ashes defeat or moderate success would have? I expect Australia to win 3-0, but if it is going to resurrect Ponting again, then one should feel sorry for Australia. They are merry losers now. I think he will continue even if the oz lose. mark my words.
I dont agree about Watson having proven himself as a good test opener. Any new ball attack worth its salt will have him clueless. He only plays well when he counterattacks and there is a significant amount of luck involved in that. I think Aus are short of an opening bat. They should try out Shaun Marsh and put Watson at number 6 in place of North.
