i m really disappointed to hear what ramiz said in this interview i was looking to see him as a next pcb chairman with his knoweledge and decent figure of ex pakistani cricketers , and with his experience he should have known that in this current situation there wouldnt be a better choice than afirdi and he also forget that afirdi was captaing in the odis and before that he had only couple of odis so even before he tried he declared him unfit captain and ramiz himself was a flop captain with no attacking attitude and very slow batting of his i agree afridi needs to change his batting according to the situation now but still guy has something which captain needs

Now, I want an answer from Ramiz Raja and Samiuddin that What u say about Shahid's captaincy. His strategy was excellent yesterday, placed the fielders well and made good bowling changes . But not only this , He leads from the front. With a unbearable pain of cramps, he didn't retire but he play till last moment.

My question is that Afridi not yet captained a single game and u said he is not good captain and his captaincy not work long? Why u didnt give him time and support him? Imran Khan the legendary person in Pakistan, also said that "Give Afridi time", So, y said this? n I think Shahid Give a good answer to you. I m very disappointed with ur saying.

Asim on June 15, 2010, 7:01 GMT

What I think, they've made a good step to put Afridi as test captian also. By this, he can change his batting style and could be a perfect and reliable player. As concern about two Shoaib's, I dont think Pakistan team is in need of them. I prefer to see young guys who are more disiplined atleast. They had pick young talented guy Hammad Azam, who was the hero of U19 Twenty20, in tri-nation squad but didn't given him a single chance to play.

@zain haq. i think you were in coma for last 6-8 months when umar akmal and muhammad aamir showed their talent in test arena against australia in australia.than muhammad irfan comming through(watch video on youtube) .you are posting comments like you are all best crickters in world.it all started in pakistan cricket from 1960's with lahore karachi tussel and noWchanged into political issues in team.wasim, waqar, inzamam, ramiz himself had been involved in it.but pakistan had played great cricket.DON'T YOU REMEMBER in 1980's when miandad was made captain 7 players including imran refused to play under his captaincy..and than 10 years later these miandad and imran were the main reason why pakistan won 1992 world cup.FOR ALL PEOPLE INFO PAKISTAN HAS WON TEST SERIES AGAINST ALL TEST PLAYING NATIONS WHO HAVE TOURED PAKISTAN IN LAST DECADE ONLY NOT TOURED BY AUSTRALIA AND ITS RECORD IN PAKISTAN IS THAT THEY PLAYED 20 TEST.PAK WON 7 AUS WON 3 AND 10 DRAWN.INCRIDIBLY POOOOR PERFORMANCE.????/??

Mr Zain-Ul-Abideen well you would have seen Malik been dropped because what he has done in the past. Maybe you always live in the past and cannot think of the future. For your information Sohaib Malik had the best record as batsman when he was the international captain and only Dhoni had a better record during the period he was also the international captain. So better read some history before criticizing past records

Then you start criticizing Sohaib Akhtar for no reason at all. For your information your whole bowling attack collapsed and completely failed against all teams in the last 20.20 world cup.Freshen your sleeping short run memory. Your best fast bowlers and spinners were treated like easy pickings. There was not one attacking bowler. Sohaib is an attacking bowler for your kind info and give him due weight-age and dont compare him with others. He has been the most deserving selection of this tour based on merit!!!

Ahsan on June 15, 2010, 4:33 GMT

I think if we get two solid years out of Afridi, then Salman Butt will be in perfect position to take over. This transition period is just as much about the development of the vice-captain as it is about Afridi's leadership.

Dummy4 on June 15, 2010, 4:02 GMT

i am amazed to see the title of this article as 'Afridi's captaincy won't work long term' b/c i read the whole article but still i could nt find any comments from both Ramiz Raja and Osman Samiuddin which reveal to that , it simply shows the propaganda methodology of media to miss represent the truth.

Dummy4 on June 15, 2010, 1:31 GMT

Shoaib Malik should have never been in Pak team after what he has done to the team....I'm sure he will do what he has done in the past....instead of Malik, younis khan should have been in the team....on the other hand, why pick shoaib akhter? we have a lot of talent in bowling....if you analyze last few series Pakistan has played, bowling has been performing consistently, I think its high time v should say Good Bye to Mr. Shoaib Akhter, he could've done alot more Pakistan what he has achieved but he didn't chased in on his chances...

Dummy4 on June 14, 2010, 22:38 GMT

Its right for the media critics to question Afridi's choice as a test captain and that even against Australia and England in foreign conditions. But in reality, the Pakistan cricket structure is so barren and dry that it does have the ability to produce a test-level batsman for the next couple of years. Secondly there's no other player who is left in the squad who could have been stated as captain. Such has been the level of disgust and volatility in Pakistan cricket over the last 3 years.

It remains to be seen if Pakistan will be able to match up the likes of Australia against whom they have lost 12 consecutive matches or even England against who they have lost the last 3 matches (2006). Unpredictability comes with Pakistan but even that is now restricted to t20 cricket only.

Hope we do good and learn something this England tour, that is the max that we can expect from this outfit.
