DLF Cup in Abu Dhabi, 2005-06 (India v Pakistan)

One-day internationals (2): India 1, Pakistan 1

International cricket returned to the United Arab Emirates in April 2006 - not to Sharjah, which staged the last of its 198 one-day games in 2003, but to the shiny new $22m Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The two-match series was sponsored by DLF, an Indian construction company, and was shoehorned into the international schedules after India's home series against England: Rahul Dravid found himself leading his team out in the Gulf just three days after completing a 5-1 victory in the equally stifling heat of Indore.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Pakistan won that first match, but India hit back in the second. Inzamam-ul-Haq showed his liking for the UAE - he averaged 50.28 in one-dayers at Sharjah - by making 40 and 79, but it was his opposite number, Dravid, who played the vital innings in the second match to square the series.
