Wisden

1924

For the first time the book topped 1000 pages, and the editor, Sydney Pardon, lamented that "the real difficulty in producing Wisden is to keep the book within reasonable limits," a sentiment regularly echoed by his successors ever since. He added that 1923 was a disappointing season, but admitted that he had not seen any games outside Lord's and The Oval. Patsy Hendren passed 3000 runs in the season, but Five Bowlers of the Year replaced the usual Cricketers, the last time that happened.
