Australia in India and Pakistan, 1964-65

After a short rest following their tour of England, the Australians visited India and Pakistan on the way home. Only Test Matches were played. In the three-match series in India, each side won one game with the third drawn, and the only match in Pakistan was drawn.

Simpson, the Australian captain, enjoyed a specially successful time and showed no sign of the staleness which affected some of his team. Lawry supported him well, their first-wicket partnerships in India being 66, 91, 35, 59, 97 and 115. Simpson surpassed himself in Pakistan, where he made 153 and 115 in the match at Karachi.

In India, McKenzie added 13 more wickets to his rapidly growing tally in Tests. Nadkarni, the slow left-hander, did even better for India, his 17 wickets costing 13.70 runs each. The Nawab of Pataudi, the captain, was easily the most successful batsman and his century at Madras was a fine effort.

For Pakistan, the feature was an opening partnership of 249 by Ibadulla and Kadir, each of whom was making his Test debut
