The Australia v India Test at Sydney in January 2008 was overshadowed by non-cricketing issues: a string of poor umpiring decisions, largely at India's expense; allegations of gamesmanship against Australia and their captain; and a charge of racism against India's Harbhajan Singh. The fallout saw Steve Bucknor, one of the field umpires, being withdrawn from standing in the next Test in the series.
